Ok - so I bought a quarter cow and about a 1/3 of it is ground beef given to me in 5 to 8lb blocks. I need to cut the frozen ground beef while frozen so I can put them in manageable amounts so when I unfreeze I don't have to cook 8lbs of ground meat. Any suggestions? I tried a new hacksaw and that didn't work

They gave it to you frozen?
only thing I can think of would be to see if a local butcher would be willing to cut on a band saw?Greensboro, NC -

How many teeth per inch was your hacksaw blade? Try a 14 tpi blade or maybe a sawz-all with a wood cutting blade.Woodbridge, Va.

This is going to sound pretty "hold my beer and watch this" but I've done it in a pinch when I needed to break up a frozen block quickly.
Get the widest flathead screwdriver you have, or something like a cold chisel or masonry chisel, get it all cleaned up - boil the end of you must or just give it a good soap and water scrub. Then find a good solid surface (probably going to want to do this on concrete if the blocks are thick) and use your worst cutting board or some plywood or whatever. Ground meat splits pretty easily once you get it started.Love you bro! -
Hammer, you're going to want a hammer. Hopefully that was obvious, but just in case...hammer.Love you bro!

8lbs will make a couple of nice meat loaves.
Eat one hot with sides, and make sammies with the other.
I agree with CF, what the hell kind of operation are you buying your beef from?BrandonQuad Cities

I know, I know -but it is what it is. don't have a band saw. Tried the local supermarket and they would not cut it for me.

Harbor Freight has (not) Sawz-Alls for 30 bucks. Milwaukee? Umm not by any stretch, but...

And if you look hard enough, you can probably find a printable 20% off coupon.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
