    Dayum!

Pops is a type 2, he asked for a second bowl.  There are times, where ya just gotta say, Fock it.

Have been tweaking this crisp recipe, dialing back the sweet each time.  Started with 2C total of white and brown.  Then 1C.  This was 1/2C.  I think I have the balance dialed in, apples were middle of the sweet/tart road.  Using cider was another good move.

Spot on! Wow that looks good. My apple tree kicked the bucket a few weeks ago. One of the main branches came down and now she's an eyesore. I'll maybe get some smoke wood out of it but it's nothing compared to that goodness you have going on!
Thanks V.  At least you've got a big a$$ bbq burn barrel now to get rid of it.   B)

I could definitely do with a double helping of that right now.
I hear ya, hoping you and yours stay safe and dry.  Our big one here that got some attention was '93.  I was 16.  Sandbagged with the National Guard in Davenport until my hands blistered and bled, then sandbagged more.  Sandbagged out at my Grandma's in '97.  Pulled my '67 Mustang and Dad's '65 T-Bird out of the garage in the middle of the night, as water was flowing over the dike on the road at 6" deep just before it hit.  Brother's house was flooded too.  We were using a 3 gal bucket as a toilet....it sucked.

Thanks, I had a couple of bites this morning with coffee, when moving it to a smaller container.

@Focker, I know we've had our differences, but that's a nice cook there!  I'm not a big dessert fan, but I'd kill that.
    Thanks Matt.

We are pie and ice cream peeps after all.  Cake is at least more moist than brisket.  ;)
Crisps are a bit easier and more egg friendly.
Getting it high in the dome helps immensely.

Drooling, most unladylike. But heaven help me. Unfortunately, hold the ice cream, lactose intolerant. But the rest!

    Thank you.
Here is where I'm at so far...

    1C AP flour
    3/4 rolled oats
    1/4C brown sugar
    1t ground cinnamon
    1t ground grains of paradise

Mix, cut in 1/2C softened unsalted butter.

In a saucepan, heat until dissolved and thickened, 2 min or so...
    1C apple cider
    2T corn starch
    1/4C white sugar
    1t vanilla extract

Add about 3qt of peeled chopped apples and mix with sauce.

    In a square baking dish,
add half of crisp, dump apples and spread evenly, then remaining crisp on top.

Bake high in the dome at 420 for 75 min.
Let cool for an hr to firm up.

What is your gasket configuration on your egg?  That looks like a Rutland Gasket on the upper dome?

Killer looking dessert.  I've never heard of Whitey's ice cream, but throw in some Brewers Natural Vanilla and I'd eat the whole pan of it.

Yes, you are correct.  Figured the base will crack before the dome.  One less thing to mess with when/if that happens.  Seven years in, the Rutlands on top are holding up great.

Thanks everone for the kind words.

For those trying this, the GOP is optional.
I had some in the freezer from an Alton Brown apple pie recipe.  But GOP works with apples.

    And it's 3/4C rolled oats.

The butter is cut in half inch cubes(to cut easier), then softened, and mixed.

    An easy, Fall treat.

And just about any Vanilla ice cream is approved to pair.

Going to Stone's Apple Barn soon, so we might be doing this again, and staying with the current sugar amounts.
