I've gone through 2 bags of BGE lump, tried looking for royal oak and there's none around me. Anyone try the Publix Greenwise Lump? $5.99 for an 8lb bag.
From your handle and avatar, I assume you're in Tampa so I just looked at three different Home Depot stores there. All have Royal Oak lump in quantity, 15+ lbs at $12.97. RO makes BGE lump, but realistically priced. Same stuff.
Much appreciated, I've been to Lowes and Walmart but couldn't find any there. There's a Home Depot near my office I can swing by and get some. No more $30 bags!
    Hopefully, it's USA made. =)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I'm confused as to why we wouldn't actually want to use Mexican made charcoal in our Mexican made cookers.  B)

  • I bought my last couple RO bags at HD.  They had the "made in USA" markings and were good quality with little dust and mostly large and medium pieces.  Before that I had used a few RO bags from WM.  Bags looked the same but no "made in USA" emblem.  Lots of charcoal powder and small pieces, as well as a few rocks, chunks of clay and a metal strap.  While it may just have been a couple of random bad bags I suspect the different markings on the bags may be from different suppliers and that may be the quality difference.

I picked up a couple bags of Royal Oak at Home Depot today. 8 display bags were all made in the USA. Everything on the pallet was not marked Made in the USA. I got the ones on display. Appears to be good.

Just purchased 3 bags of made in USA royal oak at home depot in Alvin tx     15.45/bag
I XL  and 1 Weber Kettle  And 1 Weber Q220       Outside Alvin, TX-- South of Houston
  • Checked one of my bags recently purchased from HD, no USA markings but I didn't notice a difference in the lump (all good). Went by HD yesterday and it looked like all the bags were USA marked.
