Our youngest going up today, he was 13 yesterday. He wants to learn to fly, so some lessons are his birthday present.

    Wonderful!!!!

A worthwhile educational b-day present. Good on both of you. I'm sure he will enjoy it and hope it is a first step to a life or career in aviation and science.

I had 3 glider rides with a friend when I lived in Tucson. So much fun a silent soar is.

What an incredible birthday present. I got my son an R/C helicopter for his 13th so we will just call it a tie.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Went on a glider ride once and loved every part of it except one (only because I was not ready for it). We were gliding and hitting the thermals to get some more altitude. It was so calm and quiet as the pilot was pointing out some landmarks.  Then he said look at the tip or the right wing and do not look away.  We were looking at it then he banked hard right and the horizon went right to the "top" of my field of vision.  Then the "G"s kicked in as I was sucked into my seat. Scared the hell out of me at first, because I was not expecting it. A little later in the ride I asked to do it again.....

Awesome gift to your son!  I mean that is a really really cool gift!

Dom really enjoyed the ride and will be back for more.

@berndcrisp he is already into aviation and keen on science subjects as well.

We live in an area with a high concentration of old and still in use airfields, so good oportunities for flying. Our village has an ex USAF base and where he flew from today at Kirton was a Spitfire base in WWII. Scampton is near too, home of the Red Arrows.
