Watching the Weather Channel coverage of Harvey and they have three different reporters right out in the middle of it, standing in water, barely able to stand up in the crazy winds, and they are about to get blown away.
They could easily take shelter, with the storm in the background, and report it just as well, actually better because you could then probably understand what they are saying.
I suppose it makes it more real with them standing there fighting to stand up, wiping their eyes, trying to report it live. I still think you could take shelter and report the events as they are happening. OK, so one just went behind the hotel, out of the wind. Wonder how long till he goes right back out.
"Boy it is nice to get out of that wind for a few minutes," he just said.
Somebody is gonna get killed by blowing debris, live on TV one of these days.
Baffling.

...reporters reporting on a storm from in the storm they are reporting on.... OH THE HORROR!!!

Don't get me wrong, where you have an isolated case like the reporter in the boat in 12 inches of water and they guy walking across the street....that violates ethical conduct. I have a bunch of friends in the media and they're always talking about not being able to influence subjects or story lines in any way. Some of these people won a Pulitzer for Katrina coverage. Including my old friend Brett who took this one:

I'm with Brent. Listening to these fools gleefully informing us of all of the worst case scenarios... unwatchable.

This time they have a real storm and can do real coverage. They must practice standing at an angle to look like the wind is blowing them because I see them leaning into a 20 kt wind. Who was it said, "If there's no news, go make some?"
I was away from TV during Matthew so got to miss their coverage.
The road from Savannah to Tybee Island will flood with a spring tide and a NE wind, many other coastal roads are the same, leave it to Weather Channel to act like it is a big thing. I blame them for a lot of people staying where they shouldn't because they've cried wolf so many times.
I notice none of the coverage was from the barrier islands. There is probably a lot of damage there. Any news on the oil refineries? People watch, rating go up and advertising sells.
Off the soap box now
