Broken bolts on hinge

this is my buddies egg.  Probably 7 years old.  Maybe I missed it but I don't recall seeing this as a common issue?  Thoughts?

Go to just about any hardware store, locate 5/16" x 2" galvanized carriage bolts, nuts while you're at it since it's all cheap, and carry on.

Agree, not common unless you try and remove or retighten bent bolts. But most of the time stripping the threads are more common.

I had one break on the hinge assembly. I tightened the bolts not long ago and I think I may have over-tightened them and it sheared off. Mine happens to be 7 years old as well. This just happened over the weekend and I haven't replaced it yet.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
