OT: Dinner Bell

My parents bought an old farm house south of Nashville TN when I was a little kid. It was where we all considered "home". Place to run, hunt, ride bikes, swim, wade in the creek, be a kid.

When it was time to come in, my mom would ring our old dinner bell.

Well life goes on. My parents sold their place last year. It was a lot to keep up with just 2 people getting older. When they moved, I took it with me. Better than shouting "5 MINUTES!" through the kitchen window.

I will stain the 4x4 the same color as my table when I get it together.

Please ignore the falling Rose of Sharon tree in the backyard. The base washed out and I've gotta replace it.

"Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

Nice memory maker right there. When I was a kid, there was an old metal hay mower like this one sitting behind the barn at my grandparents. I used to love to play on it, mainly because I was not supposed to.
After my grandparents both passed, back in the 1980s, I wanted that thing to put on my property. It was old, rusty and, to me, a great reminder of some of the best times of my life.
I was told no, that one of my uncles was going to put it on his land. It sat there for years, but finally did get moved to an uncle's property. The uncle died several years ago. No idea where the hay mower is now. Probably still sitting somewhere on his land, rusting away.

  • @northGAcock I can think of at least half a dozen uses for that.

I may get one over my bedroom door with one of these signs.

It may collect dust but it will get some laughs

No sense having a bell that never rings. Good luck with that. =)

Never mind the bedroom door; put it over the bed itself.  =)

This.  A triangle at the lake in north michigan brought us to the table.  Miss that as the ringer is forever gone.  Cherish the memories.
