    The propane will alter its accuracy based on the coefficient of gas versus lump charcoal.  It is completely unreliable on your gasser.  ;)

    Matt, if you're serious, the Maverick will work fine.  Wrap the cables in AF to better protect them.  Don't go way hot and you'll be good.

    Dang doctors, messing with anything and everyone.  Temperature measuring devices are just that-they don't care about how the temp is created.  Tip of day however, (in a nod to the medical community) do not cross contaminate the the anal and oral thermometers.  ;)

    The reason for my gasser cook was because of a steak I had last week when eating out.  It was really good so I asked the server how it was cooked.   Guess what no charcoal or smoke was involved.    

    My humble try try at a steak.  



    And a sear.  Here is where it got away from me 


    And my overcooked but still very tasty ribeye
