OT: Smoque BBQ in Chicago

Curious to hear reviews by folks who have eaten at Smoque. Was in Chicago last weekend and went at 7:45 Sunday night. Because they close at 9, and it was a Sunday, I figured we'd be spared too long of a wait. I figured wrong.
After an hour wait, ordered the sliced brisket and St. Louis ribs. Thought the ribs were better than the brisket, though both were good. Ironically, not much smoke flavor on the brisket. Baked beans were more smoky than anything we ate, to the point where it was overload.
All in all, glad we went. Staff was amazingly competent and friendly. Would I wait again an hour or tell someone it was worth the wait? No. But that might be more of a reflection of me than Smoque.

I don't think you can get good BBQ in Texas after dark. Only before light and till about just after noon time.Large

They used to do a very good brisket, but it's been years since I had it. Bummer to wait that long on a Sunday night!Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

I have not been there yet. Heard good things though. I like Chicago Q. The original chef there has opened a new place downtown called Southern Cut BBQ. Want to try that next time I'm up there.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

I had about the same experience with the food. Also, had the same as you. My beans I thought were rather good though. I only had to wait about 20 min. on a Wednesday night.SE PA
