Photo of Note

Here is a shot of my XL a couple hours after shut down.
Main kettle temp of 101f is far below where it runs when cooking.

This is a false color image NOT processed thru photoshop but rather the defaults in the FLIR software.
Camera is an attachment for my iPhone.

That's pretty cool.  I've almost purchased a FLIR camera, did not know there's an accessory.  And we eggheads love accessories....

I got a Seek Reveal about a year and a half ago. Neat little tool.
It's no $10K FLIR but it'll do the trick.

It pretty clearly shows temp gradients around drafty outlets and windows and where I need to redistribute insulation in my attic.

This is a pic of a round cast iron griddle I use on my KJ Jr. that is just a little bit smaller than the size of the grate. I was concerned that there might not be enough of a gap around it and it might hamper airflow but it does heat up pretty evenly and gets hot enough. Hard to read on this crappy jpg but the center temp was about 550°F at the time of this capture.

It got even hotter and burned off all the seasoning. :)

Why is the paver (I assume that is what it is) underneath the egg showing as hot? The legs of the stand aren't showing as hot and it seems to be pretty sharply delineated from the next paver over. Where did the heat come from?

Egg could be on the corner of a patio. The rest is grass?

Maybe that's a mat or something that gives off a different heat signature.

Looks like the black BGE mat because of the rounded corner. Mine gets crazy hot during the day and would easily throw a different heat signature.

Yes,   Corner of patio and remainder grass.    Or more likely WEEDS.
Cement retains heat well after sun goes down.
