Was recently changing a fluorescent tube in the kitchen.  Inadvertently my Shun Premier gyuto off the magnetic rack.  Ouch!!!  Of course it landed smack on the point and broke off about 3/8" of the tip.  I was heartbroken.  Remembered someone posting about D&R Sharpening Solutions in PA.  Post mentioned they worked on Japanese knives.  I contacted them posthaste.  Dave said he could certainly repair/sharpen my knife.  I sent it right off.  Back home to me in 3 days.  Knife looks like brand new and is brutally sharp from new tip to bolster for a price of $50.  Can't say enough good things about Dave and D&R Sharpening.  High quality outfit in my book!

I'm not good @ pictures.  About 3/8" broke off the tip. It was also bent a little.  He straightened the bent portion.  Then carefully ground the spine down to make a new tip.  Then sharpened the knife and cleaned and polished it.  It looks brand new and is crazy sharp. A real quality job.
