Has this happened to anybody? Peeled Gasket

I started the BGE yesterday after already making the pizza, shut the dome after 15 minutes to heat up the pizza stone and after 45 minutes this happened...ugh!  I'm within a month of BGE being a year old.  Thoughts?  Under Warranty?

They do carry a 1 year warranty on the gauge and gasket:

I agree with Matt though. If you are going through the trouble to scrape off the old gasket I would just upgrade to something else.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Happens to lots of us and I would not think it would be under warranty. Buying a good gasket from RRP will be the cheapest thing you buy for your BGE and one of the best investments.

I must gives kudos to BGE!  I emailed them my problem with the gasket and I also have a underbite problem as well.  All within the hour this morning they are shipping a new gasket and hardware pack.  WOOT WOOT!!!

Honestly, I'd ditch that gasket, and install a Rutland and be done with messing with that stock mess.  It's very inexpensive, and Ron gives a great package with more details than you could think about.
Agreed. Many times over. My OEM gasket started to go south after about two months. I followed the recommended heat max too (which is pointless). I replaced it with a Rutland in late 2009 and it's still going strong. Even did a few 900° pizza cooks with a legs-down platesetter. No problem.

I am impressed with your response time from BGE though. =)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I got one for my large and med, and I think it was less than $20.  PM, wait, post on his wall.  I don't think he does PMs.

Your egg did you a favor!  Now get with Ron and order a Rutland and don't look back!  My original pooped out in about 7 months and did the same thing as yours.

I had one peel off like that. Had not even used the Egg. The gasket was stuck to the plastic wrap around the dome and base and pulled right off.
After scraping the gasket off my other Egg I counted myself lucky having this one peel off right away.lol
As others have said, I went with Rutland gasket as well.
    Thank you,

If you ditch the felt that is your call.

Looks like you had sauce drip on the gasket and fuse at high temps.  Keep your gaskets clean and they will last a long time!

Had oral surgery 10 years ago to install posts and a new bridge. Surgeon drilled and tapped bone to add the posts. Smallest ratchet wrench and drill set ever saw. Hope your surgery is only on one side so you can chew on the other.

Ron has, by the way, become an evil 1%er selling $11 gaskets to Eggheads.

Thanks for the good wishes! Like I responded elsewhere:

Pat tells me she delivered my body along with my mind in the proverbial "space cadet" stage sometime around 4 today after stopping by Walgreens to get 3 prescriptions filled. Next thing I knew I woke up in our bed about 7 pm. My face is already swollen so I know I'll be quite bruised for the next few days.

trying to sip liquid through numb lips is a sloppy challenge! But the long range benefit to be able to have two sides of my mouth to chew on come mid-October will be worth the ha$$le!
