Buying lump from costco

Costco has a 30 pound bag of "Big Block XL lump charcoal" that my dad said was KJ brand.

It was 24 bucks for a 30lb bag. Anyone know if this is actually KJ brand charcoal and if it's any good?

What a bummer. Went to one of our Costcos to pick up a few bags, and this was the  only lump for sale.

Yea that's all I've ever seen when I've been there. I guess they were doing a demo on Sunday for KJ's so they probably made sure they had plenty of their name brand stuff in stock to sell

Mine only carries Cowboy lump. I haven't been desperate enough to buy it.

I went to a Costco KJ roadshow this weekend in Santa Clara, CA, and the pallet of KJ lump was in very poor shape. Some of the bags were taped where they had rips, many of the bags looked like they had been dropped from a high shelf, and overall, I was not in any mind to buy some.

They just did the Costco Roadshow last week at my Costco and today that charcoal was everywhere.

Reps at two different roadshows have told me that Costco will begin carrying KJ lump on a regular basis "any time now".

It says Kamado Joe on the bag. So your dad is correct. It's real good. Nice big chunks and they are dense. I got to say Fogo is my fave, but due to cost don't usualy use it. At the price you are seeing it's like half the price of fogo.  Stock up. And share some with me.

I bought 8 bags a few weeks ago at the Roadshow by me. I have used it once and really like it. I usually buy FOGO but this is a great more affordable replacement. I still have a few bags of Fogo in the garage too.

Picked up 4 bags at EP Costco today. Lots of pallets of lump. Found a half round CI grate (boxed) beneath the bags I picked up for my cart. Strange. Anyway, looks like great lump.
