Firecraft 2 bag vs. 3 bag order (RW)

I heard a while ago Firecraft had a new 2 bag box. In the interest of science I ordered 5 bags of Rockwood. I got 1 two bag box and 1 three bag box.
Results: They are the same box. If you are far from firecraft or have hard delivery persons, I would order in groups of 3. The boxes are double thickness cardboard, but there is lots of extra space with only two bags. They did throw in a token sheet of packing paper in the order with 2 bags, but it does not seem to be doing much. The bags can flop around a lot. Interesting enough, the 2 bag box had a lot less dust.
(Boxes delivered 4 days apart, but waited to unveil together)

2 bag box of lump:

3 bag box:

I did! I wanted to compare a 3 bag to a 2 bag box. It was posted by another member that they had a new 2 bag box. I wanted to see if the rumour was true.bgebrent said:Their standard is 3. Use ur math!

Well now we know to keep ordering 3 at a crack. Thanks for doing the experiment.
I wonder what their thought process was with that paper though.

3, or multiples of 3. So 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27. I could go on, but I'm not going to.blasting said:

Believe me, I tried. With only 2 data points I would be forced to intetpolate to much.Legume said:zWell, at least you didn't graph anything.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

So then...would a one bag box be dust free?

I do! More data. Although, extrapolating, a box with no lump would be the best case scenario from a dust standpoint.HeavyG said:So then...would a one bag box be dust free?

Well, none of the boxes have any dust until you look into them.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Can you use that sheet of paper to wrap a brisket or pork Butt???

Since that lady is putting charcoal in her rubs, I don't see why wrapping meat in filthy paper would be an issue.Hntnhrd said:Can you use that sheet of paper to wrap a brisket or pork Butt??? -
Did the two bag box have proportionally less dust or even more significantly less dust? In querying minds want to know but I truly don't care.

60% of the 3 bag box interior was coated in dust.lousubcap said:Did the two bag box have proportionally less dust or even more significantly less dust? In querying minds want to know but I truly don't care.
15% of the 2 bag box was coated in dust.
Dust coating was not proportional to bag count. I did not gather and weigh the dust.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Excuse me guys......that's NOT "dust". It's Rockwood Aura (TM). It creates a multiple sensory experience when you open the box and feel the cloud of charcoal love. Drink it in, it always goes down smooth.
BTW, You're welcome!

Yea, smooth, just like backwoods moonshine is smooth ... you've got to stop nipping on it before you post. Cheers ...stlcharcoal said:Excuse me guys......that's NOT "dust". It's Rockwood Aura (TM). In Washington, my dealer would order a pallet of Rockwood at a time for me ... the bulk price was an extra bonus. The main thing was that the lump was "factory fresh" with no frustrated football players mishandling the lump ... yep, I would offload the pallet into a pickup, drive carefully home, and carry it one bag at a time into the basement storage area. Always had minimal damage damage/dust.
When I left Washington, there were two bags left, so I offered them to my neighbor. When he picked them up, he literally tossed them into the back of his SUV ... about five feet from hand to deck. Damn ...
