Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I've got 4 racks of ribs on my large today and my guru is set and holding at 240 degrees....setup is indirect. My smokeware thermos is telling me ~150 degrees. The delta wasn't quite as large earlier in the cook....probably about 50 degrees.
Any ideas?

The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

Do you have confidence that both are accurate? The key is to believe your indication(s) but only when you can trust them. All calibrated? I only run with the dome thermo (that I check the calibration of before any L&S cook). If you still have your OEM BGE thermo, toss it in some boiling weather-note the reading and replace the Smokeware and see what you get. Beyond that...

With 4 racks in a large egg its a little crowded and the dome thermometer that far off from the Guru my bet is your dome thermometer probe has impaled the cold ribs! Another good reason to remove that spring clip on the back and throw it in the trash! That way you can pull it out, close the dome and carefully push the thermometer back in sensing if it meets an obstruction. Gravity will keep the thermometer in place.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Thanks guys! I trust my guru probe more than I trust the Smokeware thermos. RRP, I did look to make sure that the probe has not impaled the ribs. Doesn't appear to have done so. I will check the cals later this week and update you guys.
