I drank too much beer yesterday to really be productive. I did smoke a good ham though. Tongue and groove fit like a glove.

Got some more work in today. Back is enclosed except for where the egg will sit for air flow.
This is the front. I'll build a pull out drawer for the plate setter to sit in directly underneath where the egg will sit. Cabinets on either side.
Still need to add trim to the top and bottom and start on the concrete top.
Now to to decide on stain options....

Wow, looks good. I just bought and XL last month and want to build my own table this summer when I have the time. I will be interested to see how the concrete top turns out, that is what I have been considering for mine.
-
Going to be stout when done.
-
I just bought an XL too, anxious to see the end product here...lookin good, like the concrete top idea too....
-
I had a wood top on my last but it was hard to keep clean and the sun here in San Antonio was brutal on it.
-
What you've built is plenty sturdy, you've done a first-class job on the construction. Will you stain the concrete top and reenforce it with wire or rebar?

I guess I could have used rail road timbers and spikes?!
Im planning on staining the concrete and reinforcing it. I'm thinking a 2 inch thickness will do. -
That is awesome. I want to do something like that

I built the pull out drawer for the plate setter tonight. I'm considering putting another pull drawer on top of this one? But for now....I'm going to have a cold beer. -

Slow cooks and slow builds...
this thing is taking forever. Between work and kids sports I don't have much time. Got the front face of the bottom drawer installed.

At least I was able to squeeze in cooking some fajitas last night.

Man, you do quality work!

Ran into a snag with the hinges. I didn't want to see any hardware from the outside of the table I also wanted the cabinets doors to be flush with the frame.
Either way, it's coming along and I'm happy with it.
When I noticed I would have to modify my original plan, I almost made the 2 outside cabinets pull out drawers just like the plate setter drawer. I eventually decided against it. I figured the door would take bracing to keep from bowing. I also thought it would wobble. I also would lose interior storage space dew to the framing required for the drawer slide hardware I ended up having to notch into the door so that the door sat flush with the frame. I'll fill the bad screw holes once I start working on the sanding and finishing.

I'm starting to rethink the concrete countertop and stick with wood.

I in fact did change my mind on the concrete top. The wife and I picked out a granite top yesterday. It will be delivered and installed on Friday. I've gone through and changed out boards I didn't like. Sanded everything down. I'll starter staining either this afternoon or tomorrow.
Im going with a really light tint oil based stain instead of the typical cedar color stain. -
First coat. Not sure if I will do another or not.

Looks awesome!

Top notch

Here it is!! Very excited this build. 26.25" hole is perfect for the XL.

Now that is nice, I don't think you'd ever get a concrete top to look that good. Good decision. You have me thinking now.
