New take on the lump discussion...

So glad I no longer have an HOA. My old HOA controlled everything. The color of the curtains/blinds you're allowed to have, the angle at which your bicycle would be allowed to be parked on your balcony, the type of lawn chairs you're allowed to have on your balcony, the type of doorbell you're allowed to use, etc. etc. etc.
Anyways, I usually clean out my BGE before a cook, not after, so the lump has been cooled down for several days, so I just scoop it in a bag and throw it out. For those cooking more often, this obviously doesn't work due to it being a fire hazard.Northern Virginia

Why do you want to put it by the pond? Is there any life in there? If so, why would you want to screw with the water? Just dump it in the woods or throw it in the trash. I would rather do that than have a body of water behind my house that can't support life. By the way, I am not a tree hugger or EPA nut or anything like that, but it doesn't make sense to pollute the pond behind the house.

It's easy to get frustrated with HOAs and I personally am happy I don't live in a neighborhood with one. That being said, @HeavyG correctly identified the concern here, and that is with nutrient loading in the pond. It's better to not dump waste of any kind into a water body if you want it to support aquatic life and not turn into a stinking cesspool behind your house. There a lots of good alternatives as others have noted here.XL BGE, CGS AR & spider, 36" SS Blackstone, SMOBOT - Flower Mound, TX
