LBGE thermos replacement

I bent the stem on my stock thermo. I went to the dealer and they want $40 cad for a replacement I just about **** my pants. 

Anyone got a suitable replacement for it?

    Never bent mine so I don't know... maybe a stupid idea, but can't you just straighten it?

    I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

    Does bent equal non-function?  Give it the one-point boiling water test-if accurate or close adjust out the off-set and use.  I doubt that it is no longer working.

    It does work but it skips when the needle moves. 
    I haven't done a water test yet but it bothers me with it skipping and jumping when it's moving.
