Blake! Excuse me, my man! It took me all day wondering what you were getting at! I just now found your address/name on this iPad as I don't have it on my iMac.

Insofar as the smokeware cap goes, I have two and I like them.  There is a design flaw of sorts insofar as the creosote and grease gunk up where they join and it becomes very difficult to rotate the vent.

Anyone who hasn't seen this just isn't cooking enough with that top at low and slow temps.
Carey, I've experienced this too but find it a non issue with easy solution.  SW cap is better than daisy wheel for me. Brandongodfrey said:
I used the smokeware for awhile then got sick of the smoke coming back at me . I went back to the daisy wheel but had a lot of mold problems so now I just use the smoke ware as a cap when I'm not using it to improve air circulation lol I may go back to it again but I really like the daisy
Orient the Smokeware cap so the vent is not oriented towards your face.

The rain hood directs it down and keeps the smoke low , orientation of the vent makes no difference thanks . For me the daisy wheel works better . Smoke goes straight up and generally away from my face

    Daisy Wheel:  can rust, yes
SW SS cap:  can rust, no

Daisy Wheel: Can control airflow, yes
    SW Cap:  yes

Daisy wheel:  maintains settings when opening the dome, sometimes
SW Cap:  always ( I know this is an IQ issue)

Daisy wheel needs after cook care:  yes
SW cap is shut it and forget it.

Daisy wheel allows rain into your cook: yes
    SW Cap:  no

    Daisy wheel manages temp: yes
    SW Cap maintains temp: yes

No financial interest.  SW cap is a great modification.  DMFT is original that thankfully has been improved upon.
