Just saw this announcement which might help you use up the remnants of a gift card that you will never go back to!

I had Applebee's a few weeks ago. The only reason why we went was because our giftcard expired there that night. It usually takes us a near expired giftcard to get us in. I'd much rather support a family owned restaurant with much better food.

  • Speaking of gift cards, you can turn coins into gift cards for supposedly no charge with Coinstar machines. They charge 11% if you convert to cash, but 0 for giftcards. The question is, do the gift cards expire, or do they take off a little each month. Their website tells you where to find there machines and which businesses participate. I used the machine for the first time today. I got a card for Lowe's and Amazon. I only did a small amount for each as a test. The Amazon one says no expiration date, the one from Lowe's does not say anything about that.

Actually I have never eaten at ours! I just thought the "use a left over card" idea was cool.

Cool idea.In MN they had a place in the shopping mall I worked. Can't even begin to guess at the number of pitchers of beer and wings we had...

That Abercrombie & Fitch gift card you got from Aunt Peggy for Christmas - even though you haven't shopped there since high school - finally has a purpose. Instead of letting it collect dust in your junk drawer, you can head to Applebee's and use it to pay for dinner. For the remainder of March, Applebee's locations in Texas will accept gift cards or expired coupons - from anywhere, even non-Applebee's businesses (!!!) - to pay for up to 50 percent of your bill. They will literally take any paper, plastic, or printed coupon or gift card, and apply its value to the cost of your food. Have a coupon for $2 off canned soup for the grocery store? Use it at Applebee's and get $2 off your check instead. The offer just can't be combined with any other Applebee's offer and it can't be applied to alcohol (boo).

In a press release, Applebee's said the idea for the promotion came after noticing customers had expired coupons and gift cards to places they've never visited before. Chief operating officer of the Apple Texas franchise group Chris Dharod thinks the promotion will bring in customers who will eventually become regulars. In a statement, he said, "We know that when our neighbors taste our food and relax in our atmosphere, they will become Applebee's fans for life."

    Thank you,
    Darian

I have never been, but the fact that they take gift cards from anywhere says something. Reminds of a scene from the Soprano's. Artie Bucco's restaurant had good food and a relatively hip crowd. He let the quality of the food go downhill and lost his customer base. He opens up for business one day and here comes the Members Only jacket wearing group with some of them using walkers and most of them holding coupons.

    Desperate maneuver.

This.  For some reason, the Coors Light drafts here (and at chili's) are the absolute coldest, most delicious, tastiest beer anywhere.  Life changing one might say.  But alas, as Greg says, food not so good.

But one of the ground truths of life, "Life is too short for Lite/Light beer."  =)

I'm so confused! So do you mean their rib-lets are as tough and durable as a Rutland gasket?

    OR

do you mean at $9.99 I have competition at a price I can't match? Momma didn't raise an idiot to sell something at a loss!  =)

Folgers is the number one selling coffee in the country. There is no accounting for taste. You should pass out some egged food to those in line. If they think Applebees has good food, a taste of egged food might cause there head to explode.
