Table seal recommendations?

I built a table out of redwood a few years back and sealed it with Thompsons. It's gotten pretty much trashed and I'd like to sand and re-seal. Any recs on what to use? Would like something that lasts longer and looks prettier than Thompson's.

I've been using this on my deck for 6 years. It came highly recommended and applies easily. Anything you use should be reapplied every 2 years. IMO

Used this on my outdoor table (see profile pic) after a refinish last year and have been very happy to date. I cover my table, so I may not be the best person to speak to longevity, but water sometimes pools and sits on the table under the cover and it has always wiped away without leaving a trace.

Paint. Seriously. It's the only thing that lasts on wood outdoors.

Make sure you pony up for the UV protective finish. The sun is very destructive. It costs more but is worth the dough.

Too bad that you wasted your money, time and energy using Thompson's in the first place! THEY SAY that stuff is little more than kerosene with paraffin liquified with chemicals to keep it afloat! THEY SAY that product is a fine example of what throwing much-o marketing dollars can do for a product.

@GrillSgt That's semi-transparent? Do the results look pretty natural? Would it be similar to redwood?

@RRP I learned my lesson on Thompson's. Won't be doing that again.

I used spar marine varnish and it has held up ok. It's not covered and gets direct sun all afternoon. After two years it's cracking and showing some splitting. I used Thompsons on a picnic table and can 100% agree it's crap. I ended up using the low texture deck restore from home depot on the same picnic table and it's held up almost perfectly after one year. Not sure if that would work for an egg table with heat and flame though but it's crossed my mind. Maybe someone with more experience on that subject can chime in.

@rockymountaineggster Any particular brand that you used? May end up going the marine varnish route.
