Sorta OT - What photo hosting site do you prefer?

Since 2007 I'd been using the free Photobucket site, and even a software dummy like me could get it to work easily.  Recently however, it's been getting harder and harder to use, plus I'm now getting twice-daily offers from them to print my photos onto throw pillows (I can't complain about that, from a free site).
On another forum someone stated that:
Both phone and PC report Photobucket as having trojan horse worms etc. Site is not safe to logon and host from anymore...

We are in the same boat.
So, I'm looking for a new hosting site; am willing to pay a few bucks a year.  What's your favorite, for cost and ease-of-use?

I don't use hosting sites beyond a cloud like google or apple. Many "own" your data once you store it on their servers so pay attention to ToS.

Dropbox would be a good choice. I think Amazon Prime members get free photo storage. Not sure is you can link to them.
I used to have a Smug Mug account. It was great, just a little more than I thought it was worth, I think it was around $50/year, but it was great for sharing photos with family.

^^^ Thanks guys.  I already have a Dropbox account but have had difficulty posting pics, maybe I'll look again.
And I already have an Amazon Prime account, just for shipping; didn't know they included photo storage, will look into that tomorrow.
That's the second recommendation for Smugmug too, will look into that also; $50/year would be about my red line.

I've been a PB member for years and have no issues. Is your only complaint the unwanted emails? You don't need to open them and I believe you can even block them.

No, the emails are a non-issue.  The site itself just doesn't work like it used to, nor consistently at all, for me.  I can upload photos, but they never show up anywhere (library, Recent Uploads, anywhere else), it calls up different albums when I try to see my whole collection, a bunch of different things.  And, again, I can learn a new system, but even writing down the steps I take, the site responds completely differently every time; makes no sense whatsoever.

Now that I think about it there was some upgrade offer back in January I think which I took advantage of. It was like $14 per year and after having paid nothing for all those years I felt like $14 was worth the offer of better speed, organization etc. I bet if a person didn't accept that offer then they are playing hard ball in the sand lot.

It will be worth it for $14/annum if that fixes the problems, I have so many pics on the site now; thanks!

I use Google Photo for my phone pics. It's fantastic, since it auto-transfers pics in full resolution and deletes them off my phone storage.

Botch, like you I am searching for a hosting site.  I have PB, Flicker and imgur and all have their posting drawbacks in the free mode.  Here is a review that might be helpful:  http://thesweetsetup.com/apps/best-photo-management-solution/.  Good luck.  I am leaning to pay for PB, but Google looks promising

So you aren't having issues with PB either?  Maybe I need to clean out a cache or something.

  • Botch, no trouble with free PB except 85% maxed out and have to keep deleting pictures which is PIA.   May resign myself to paying for PB
