Hardcore carnivore

Decided to try some new rubs and whatnot recently. Got my hardcore carnivore pack and used the black on a small prime ny strip I had frozen.
Quick thaw, some salt and drying rack. Minimax to 550-600. Degrees.
Pulled at 115 degrees.
Shook the bottle as I've heard before. Smell is- pedestrian. Nothing really stand out. The rub looks awful on a steak. One of those things you don't show the company, only the finished product. The black is potent in color, I went liberal but didn't go crazy.
Once it hits the fire it smells great, and flavor wise it's very good actually. Subtle, yet complimenting in the beef flavor. Balanced with the meat, allows extra seasoning if needed and it does allow the visual aspect of a quick sear and does indeed carmelize and set well.
Color me impressed as an added arsenal to the cabinet.

Looks much better after the cook. I thought it was good but not an every time use. I have the red also and will soon give it a go on some ribs

I got the red as well. Ribs up next to see how it compares. I've been happy with Crosta carne from oak ridge so far on steaks when I deviate from salt and pepper.
Will see how red compares to the secret weapon rub.-FATC1TY

Both above have great bark and definitely nailed the finish-line. Great eats right there. Too many rub options out there.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Saw these rubs recently and was thinking about trying them.
How salty are they compared to any DP rubs you have tried?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Awesome . Most rubs seem to have way too much salt for my taste, so I'll give these a try sometime.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
