Needed to finish up some proteins (turkey and ground pork) from Blue Apron orders that we ended up not cooking. This was meant to be a lazy somewhat unplanned cook.
Seasoned the meats with DP Tsunami Spin. Sauce included dark soy, chili garlic paste, fish sauce, fermented black beans, sesame oil, chin kiang vinegar, lemongrass sauce, and some kind of Asian ginger marinade from Costco. Steeped some garlic with sesame oil and sugar to make "burnt" garlic. Was too lazy to chop veg, so just picked up a bag from HEB.
Fried the garlic. Seared the meat. Tossed in the veg. Pulled it after the sauce was bubbling for a few minutes. Added some roasted cashews before serving.
Turned out pretty good, for not following a recipe. My dad liked it, which usually means it was tasty. No plated shot because... I was feeling too damn lazy to make a fancy plate

I felt like I was having a seizure at first. Then I just wanted to savor each photo but they just keep moving so fast. Looks really great.Stillwater, MN

Also, sorry to hi-jack your thread, but would there be any reason to own both a wok and a blackstone?Stillwater, MN

Sorry about that . I sorta had the same feeling, but couldn't figure out how to slow down the pics. It was a simple, quick cook, and didn't feel like posting each pic individually was worth it for folks. The pics tend to be rather big.StillH2OEgger said:I felt like I was having a seizure at first. And what kind of question is that about the wok vs. Blackstone???
He who dies with the most toys WINS!
If you have space outside, and cook for a few people regularly, then get the Blackstone griddle. Justification shmustification. Once you get it, the onus is on you to prove that it was worth the expense.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Absolutley. Woks are great for stir frys with sauces and/or stews. Blackstones are for something where a flat surface is preferable - like burgers or eggs.StillH2OEgger said:Also, sorry to hi-jack your thread, but would there be any reason to own both a wok and a blackstone?

@Mattman3969 I lacked the diamond shaped plates that would have kicked it up a notch!
I added more mirin to the sauce than I usually do, to balance the vinegar and the chili garlic's paste. The flavors came together well.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Looks great! SWMBO has been getting some box meals lately. Quite a few of them adapt easily to the wok on the egg. We've had a lot of fun with them.Houston (Clear Lake) TX
