Raised grate question

This might be a dumb question but I see all the time about raised direct or raised indirect cooking...I understand the concept but how to I raise my grate? Is there a rig or piece of equipment I buy? What types of cooks or meats are best for doing the raised technique? Thanks for the help

There's a couple of great rigs out there by Ceramic Grill Store http://https//ceramicgrillstore.com/
If you don't want to go that route, you can make your own. I got the Weber fire grid replacement part for about $12 then four 4 or 5 inch stainless bolts and corresponding nuts and have a nice little removable cooking surface.
As for what you can cook - I look at it as more acreage to put food into the Egg! I've done pork shoulder on the main grid at the felt level and jalapeno poppers or baked beans on the top. I've made two levels of chicken wings. I've used it to get the pizza stone towards the top of the dome... You can use it in dang near any capacity.Kansas City: Too Much City for One State - Missouri side

Here it is with some pig shots over some baked beans.. notice the bolts in the upper corners of the photos. You also need some nuts and washer as 'feet' so that it'll stand on the main grid.
