New Rutland Installed

Finally got around to installing the new rutland gasket from RRP this weekend. Not the best installation job I've seen but it works!





Now the new outdoor kitchen is ready for some egging!

beatarmy followed the great instructions provided by @RRP. His stripping method for the old gasket worked great! Instructions for the installation was perfect, just my AAHD was running high during the install.

Awesome looking set up! Everything looks good from here. Also, being a noob I assume most put the rutland on the bottom and leave the dome bare? I will be doing this soon! @Lakie

I didn't want you blaming the gasket if your temps start running wild.

@DoubleEgger The draft door got installed at the same time as the gasket. I was so into getting the gasket on right I totally forgot about that gap. I will get that taken care of ASAP.

PIG Pen,
In the past we have posted that the Rutland Gasket should not be used on the Big Green Egg or any other cooker with food that close to the gasket. This did not come from us, it was a warning from Rutland Gasket Company. That should tell everyone something. Once again we are making a public notice that Rutland Gasket is not reccommended with our product, it is not safe.

The safety/danger of the Rutland gasket has been debated ad nauseum for many years.

Many years ago (to add to @nolaegghead's post) Naked Whiz posted this page; http://www.nakedwhiz.com/gasketsafety/rutlandgasketsafety.htm

It's really up to the individual to decide whether to use it or any other gasket. I'm not sure that any of the other commonly used gasket materials have been specifically approved by some government agency as "safe for food contact". Has that ever changed?

Rutland looks good from what I can see.  The hood is boss! Motor internal or on the roof?  Looks phenomenal!
