Smokeware Plate Setter Lifter - My review

This is a great piece of kit, the only thing they could do to improve it would be to put two arms on it so the plate setter is more balanced when you lift it.
You have to lift the plate setter out horizontally. If you don't it will slip and you'll be tempted to catch it with your hands.
My advice, if it's hot, DON'T DO THIS!!!

I use welders gloves if I need to pull it out when it is hot, other then that I wear nitrile gloves when cleaning my egg out.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Do you think it would fit with 2 arms? I have a lifter of similar design and don't think 2 arms would fit

If you have a L in a nest with egg mates, I find the Ott plate setter lifter even better. You can hang the PS from the mates or a tables edge while doing your business inside the egg for lighting or what not, The one you show here from SW is a good product also, and is the only one that is rated for XL that I am aware.

I have one similar to the other for my MM- works awesome. I could see how that would be nice for the L too. Good sales pitch @pgprescott. Wallet now lighter

I use a Woo, honestly I can't remember the last time I touched (hot or cold) my plate setter.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

I gotta be honest, I would give up almost all my accessories before I give up the Ott grid and PS lifters. I have a nest for my egg at home and at the shop as well as a SS prep table for each one and I use one or both items for every single cook. They are my favorite items. They are in the rarefied air with the instant read thermometer IMO.chuckytheegghead said:I have one similar to the other for my MM- works awesome. I could see how that would be nice for the L too. I made this set of lifters for my XLs. Easy to find parts at Lowes/Home Depot, etc. They work eggcellent.

Have y'all seen this? I hadn't. Just saw it at my egg dealer. Looks really cool. I've got a plate setter lifter @Fred19Flintstone gave me that works great. And I also used welding gloves.

This is definitely a nice tool. I have become partial to the Ott one because i don't have to set it down. Before I got the Ott one I used this one religiously. If you do not have a place to hang the PS, i would recommend this one. I didn't know it was useful on the XL?MrCookingNurse said:Have y'all seen this? I hadn't. Just saw it at my egg dealer. Nice. Thanks. I do like that when you set it down it's sets on the short steel legs and not actually the hot or dirty PS. It's another great option imo.johnnyp said:

I use the claw and it works great. Never had any issues with slipping and it picks up cleanly and easily.MrCookingNurse said:Have y'all seen this? I hadn't. Just saw it at my egg dealer.
