Kick Ash Christmas!

I got a Kick Ash basket (and free coozie!) for my L BGE this year.

To be honest, I've never had issue with the default BGE setup, but a Christmas list was in order and if I don't put things on it I end up with fleece vests I don't need and thermos mugs I don't want.  So I put the Kick Ash on the list and was pleased to find it under the tree.

So, anything I should know about usage?  Things I should do differently with my cooks?

I suppose I'll just pull out the CI plate in the bottom, throw this in, and continue per normal.

Yup that's right.  I upgraded to the HiQue grate a few years back, so I keep that under the KAB.  No need to hold on to the stock one.  I do occasionally use the stack large fire grate in my mini to help with flare ups when cooking really high temps on the mini.

  • You'll like it a lot. On the large you are correct ... pull out the plate and just use the basket.

Good idea. I'm going to have to try that.
  • I'll put mine in later this week and do a pork butt for my first cook with the KAB. I'm on hiatus this week from any kind of work or cooking or cleaning or anything but eating.

    I. too. left my HiQue grate in place with the KAB.  Love it!
