Loud Popping noises in BGE

Am cooking an 11 pound rib roast on my BGE today. Loaded up the Egg with lump & some cherry wood chips. Two loud popping noises occurred at about 275 degrees. Have had my egg for 9 years and have never heard this kind of noise. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance & Merry Christmas!

Prolly cracked the firebox or cast iron grate. carry on.

Thanks! I thought that might be the possible causes. The sounds were deep and not like wood. We shall see after to cook is finished!

Had to replace my firebox Friday dealer was absoulute awesome gave me new on the spot mine was 10 yes old

Yup...something cracked. I've had it happen in my old MBGE. Fire ring and box. Freaked out came on here....carried on

Had that with my XL...... check your base

If you are lucky, it was a rock mixed in with the lump.

I've had lump pop loudly before with no damage...........so before you panic about a crack, clean out the Egg and take a good look inside and outside.

When my grate went in my XL, it sounded like someone threw a M80 in my BGE lol
