Has anyone had any experience with this lower grate? My stock grate (XL) broke in half, and I'm thinking of replacing with this aftermarket unit. Any comments would be appreciated Comments

Get a Kickashbasket and be done with it.

That's gonna warp.

I like highque grates. Why not replace under warranty?
I agree that will likely warp. -
We used to make those, but never for the XL. The 9" ones for the Large would hardly sag at all, but I was always concerned the 18" ones for the XL really would. Plus that's a lot of stainless steel (3x more expensive in materials and in shipping.) I couldn't see charging someone $80-100 for one when there was a much cheaper option.
Check out the Weber 22.5" cooking grate at Home Depot for $9. It's actually about 18" and fits in the bottom of the XL just fine. You can crosshatch them like that and tack weld them, but I just run the one. It will sag, but just flip it over every time you clean out the Egg. It will rust and crack, but I've had mine for 5 yrs now. I might replace it this year. -
Going on 3 years for the weber replacement described above (picture 3 years old so u can see the setup). i stopped at the washer, bolt, nut station and used them as fasteners. I don't own a welder.
