Dr. Pepper crock pot - re heating pulled pork

Anybody know the best way to do this? I think I've read about it on here a while ago.

Making my mom some to take to her pot luck and I have no vac sealer. I always heard this was a good way to reheat it.

  • It seems you could any cola, fruit juice as well. I have always reheated in a vac seal bag and never had a problem with it drying out. Keeping it covered as much as possible after its reheated will help as well. Good luck. I'm sure everyone will love it.

  • I like to use chicken stock or broth. I believe you also need to get it warm enough to liquefy the fat.

Dr Pepper and pork sounds even more disgusting that Coke! =) For Mom's 100th birthday, I had access to a commercial kitchen and I vac sealed the meat and then into heated water in some large stockpots. Served in a chafing dish. No sauce prior to sealing, only at serving time. Best reheat ever!

You can probably use heavy freezer bags (since no vac sealer), but don't boil the water. I melted a bag in boiling water once!

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I use Dr Pepper...works great. You can't taste it as long as you don't over do it.
