Honestly I have never bought any meat from GFS - that's Gordon Food Service for those not here in the Midwest. But I have heard they have some meat offerings such as ribs and such though much of their food products are reheat & ready to serve. BTW for any newbies interested GFS carries their own brand of lump which is made for them by Royal Oak and their price is low!

I've bought a brisket from there once and it turned out really good. Also buy their jumbo chicken wings on a regular basis as well.

We did a bunch of pork butt this summer from GFS. The quality was as good as any other place. I find the stores to be really friendly places. Not as hardcore as restaurant depot. But the selection of meat on display is minuscule compared to RD. I think they'll order in anything you want though.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

GFS is where I get my pork butts. At the one I go to they have both bone in and boneless. Have also purchased several choice briskets as well.Nerk Ahia LBGE

@YEMTrey, LOL, I finally noticed your sig block! I always thought you lived in Augusta.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I buy from GFS. I have bought the pork butts and briskets there. They are close to SAMs in quality and location. I swing by and check both out. Picked up a decent looking choice brisket from GFS couple weeks ago.

We have one locally but I've not been to it yet. How are their prices?LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI.

If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard... -
Quite reasonable! I buy all my paper and plastic goods for classes and eggfests at GFS and used to buy a lot of lump there. One thing that I highly recommend is their Tavern Cheese spread. It is a tasty, garlic flavored soft spread in a tub to spread on crackers.XC242 said:We have one locally but I've not been to it yet. How are their prices?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

Ditto what Wolfie said about the ital sausage.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here. Very Extremely Stable Genius.

have not tried a lot of meats at gfs but what i have has been good. bb ribs are very good. sliced cheese is a real deal compared to local super mkt. also their meatball sauce is great. like anything, you have to watch prices.

Ron I've gotten a few briskets and butts from them, and they've been of better than acreage quality. The only problem we've ever run into is that they do not always have what we want when we've gone. It is best to call ahead.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

I'm new here and finally got approved to post after lurking for a long time. I often buy from GFS but primarily their lump.
My local GFS often sells beef tenderloins and they are around $40. Much, much cheaper than local butcher. Typically a little smaller but feeds our family of 6 for two meals typically. Much better than $100+ for one from the butcher. But if I'm doing a Xmas tenderloin then I would go with the more expensive one. -
I just really started buying meat from Aldi. They have some good deals. Picked up a spiral have for 75% off yesterday. Gonna cook it up tonight.2-XLs ,MM,blackstone,Ooni koda 16,R&V works 8.5 gallon fryer, express smoker and 40" smoking cajun
