in Appetizers
The family is coming over to our place this year, so the Mrs. and I will be cooking for a group of 18 people. We got the basics covered (20 lb turkey and a 11 lb ham), but now I'm looking for appetizer ideas. I'm leaning towards @NecessaryIndulg's green lightening shrimp.
Y'all have any good ideas?

Easy one that every one seems to enjoy.
1 block Cream Cheese
1 Jar Pimento Cheese
1 Jar Old English
1 dash Worcestershire
Mix well and refrig for a couple hours, serve with townhouse or club, will be gone in no time.

This is so simple it might not be worth posting, but last year I just threw on some conecuh sausage with some blues hog for dipping. I draped the sausage around the turkey on the V-rack and it also added some goodness to the drippings.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Smoked deviled eggs. Never done them, but I've had them done by others. Yum!

Pulled pork queso dip. You can make it a few days early too.Pulled Pork Queso Dip1 LB pulled pork , chop a little bit3 cups cheddar cheese, shreddedEight ounces cream cheeseOne half cup sour cream1/2 cup of heavy creamOne teaspoon bbq rubCombine all ingredients and pour into casserole dish. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.
Super easy to make especially if you just go to a BBQ store and grab a pound of pork, or use left overs. I would then get the scoopable tostinos chips, and place a little dip on each chip.
The dip isn't wet and runny like queso.

smoked cream cheese, crosshatch it like a ham before smoking so it has a better appearance than this. make it a day or two ahead and serve with ctackers the day of. 250 for two hours indirect, ive liked bbbr as a rub but you can go with different toppings
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
we tend to go light on apps on Thanksgiving, just nibbles - cheese, crackers, cured meats, olives. maybe some nuts, grapes, etc. also king sized bloody marys.
Love you bro! -

+1 On the sausage dip and buffalo chicken dip! We serve the sausage dip in a cut out Italian bread loaf with the large scoop Fritos and we like to sub in maple sausage. We serve the chicken dip with tortilla chips. Neither last long. Chicken dip recipe:
1-8oz pack cream cheese
1/2 cup ranch
1/4 cup hot sauce or diced jalapeños (I use Louisiana hot sauce)
1 lg can chicken
2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
preheat oven 350
mix everything together well EXCEPT cheddar cheese
once mixed spread into 7x11 Pyrex
sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top
put in oven for 15-20 mins

Sausage dip recipe? I've got a few of my own, but they are crock pot recipes. Looking to get acquainted with a new recipe that I can smoke.
I've started making buffalo chicken dip with smoked chicken and it turns out great. Crock pot recipe-
1 block of cream cheese
Shredded smoked chicken
Few squirts of ranch
Hot sauce
Top with cheese and a spicy rub that you used on the chicken
I don't measure, I use a few different hot sauces. Usually use a base of Frank's or something weak, then mix with a habanero or sauce or two (or three!). If it's too spicy I'll add a little more ranch to balance it out. Once I get a cast iron pan I'm going to try to heat it all up in the egg (with chicken that's already smoked)
