3rd cook it's different but great

ok folks 3rd cook was a burger for me. Wife and kids wanted their leftovers from Chinese last night. I had my son at coachpitch lastnight. Coaching a group of kids is amazing. Anyway back to the cook. The egg is different than my prior Performer but wow do the burgers taste better. I am asking Santa for a grate for her. Doing some chicken tomorrow.

  • Nice. The raised grate makes a helluva difference with burgers. Try doing them in a cast iron pan sometime.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.  Experiment and above all, have fun.
Ask away with any questions you may have and you will likely get several different answers, all of which will work.  BGE versatility.  FWIW-

Welcome and good looking burger. Once you start cooking more burgers at a time you may also want to opt for a drip pan which will help a lot with flare ups! What temp did you cook at??

Nice, that egg is starting to get dirty, it'll get a lot dirtier. Lots of great grub to come.

Around 550 or so. It came out great. I am using a bag of Rockwood and the taste is amazing. I want to try the BGE lump next. With my Weber I knew what charcoal to use, finding it was another story. I used 80/20 from Freah Market, I was worried about a flare up, but not a problem on this one. I am enjoying tinkering with this thing. My new maverick arrived today. Tomorrow I am going to construct a side table of some kind. I was going to build a table to put the egg in but did not like the room it would take up on the deck.

@Camelwithegg Nice, I've heard good things about rockwood! I have no experience with rockwood but if you like it I am not sure bge lump will serve you any better, a bag around here runs $22-$24. I received a small bge lump bag with my egg purchase, it was ok but I get the same results from using royal oak @ $9 for a 17lb bag! Just 2 cents, definitely try it if you have the itch, that way you can gather your own data. I am also exploring table options so I'll be interested to see what you come up with!

Put together a little table today. I have not decided it I like the middle shelf or not only time will tell I am 6'3 so I like the taller table, and I can use for more things as a stand alone.
