You should have come in early and attended Brisket Camp. NOLA is a great city, one of my favorites.

I had my flight scheduled back in July and we had so much going on with family last weekend.  Cooked 50## of butts for the church and our boys had parties Sat in 2 different places.   I was just booked anyway.  So, flew in Monday and back home Friday.  Would have been fun if I could have made it though.

I have been quite a few times over the years. I can't seem to stay as long as I use to......as I wear out much quicker in my old age. I have seen enough of Bourbon Street....and since Felix's (favorite oyster bar) closed......I am done. My next visit will be for a brisket camp.... Food is outstanding, love the local vitals.

I'm pretty sure Felix's is still around.

This is outstanding......I know they did close for a while back in 2007.

Picked up this which may explain Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar has been shucking bivalves on Iberville Street for more than 70 years. Earlier this month, it shut its doors, but only temporarily. The longtime French Quarter oyster bar has new owners, and the restaurant is going through a full renovation. It plans to reopen right after the new year, “back and better than ever," said manager Mary Claire Miller. "Same name, same menu."

Run down of our conference. At least the restaurants and bars.

Cafe Maspero's - dive type with a great muffuletta.

Mr B's - very nice. BBQ Shrimp was incredible.  No, it's not BBQ like we know.  One of my favorites.

Dragos - charbroiled oysters were excellent

Irene's Cuisine - black drum was awesome. Great service.

Tableau - awesome again. Black drum again.  Nice atmosphere

Napoleon House - historic bar. Food is good too Pimms Cup to drink

Mandina's - in mid city and off the beaten path. My friends that live near NOLA met me there.  Great local place and food is outstanding.  No way anyone visiting finds this place. Loved it. Sang 3 happy birthdays.

Mothers - touristy for sure it still one of my favorites.  The ham and debris were the show.  Love the wait staff.  They were giving hell to the Seahawk fans that were in town this weekend. Awesome !

Felix's - my friends report this was awesome.  Thanks for the suggestion

Cafe Du Monde - coffee and beignets.  Very tasty.

Love NOLA and that includes and the street folks asking for money and the other street hustles going on. Love it!

I'm a more local, casual type so Commanders Palace and Galatoires were not on my favorite list.  Just too formal for my preference. Certainly and must visit for a first timer.  Those places are traditional.  Not knocking it but just not for me.

    Hope this helps someone.
