Word of caution for those mentioning using the 18" grid on the XL, if you have the Woo or other setup taking the main grid to the felt line the 16" gets kind of tight when close since it is another nearly 6" high. I don't think an 18" grid would work if you cook raised grid.

Good point! 16" with Woo works great, could run an 18" or 22" If low grid is on fire ring.82grillmaster said:Word of caution for those mentioning using the 18" grid on the XL, if you have the Woo or other setup taking the main grid to the felt line the 16" gets kind of tight when close since it is another nearly 6" high. Ashish, the extender from the group buy works for me, it's kind of tricky but I'm able to minimise the tilt after several trials and errors...@caliking said:That upper grid seems to hold up well under the weight of the chicken. I bought the ones from a group buy a while back and never used them because of how much they sagged when you put stuff on the top grid. This photo shows Large grid over XL grid.... the tilt should be even less with Medium over Large.

At eggfests I use it for direct cook in Large, with the 'extender' ring the upper grid can swing out over the gasket. I don't care about the drips on the dirty brick patio at home
