Huge fan of the simple up/down locking tong.  I was given a set years ago and for the short time I misplaced them I was lost.  I really should buy a backup.

XLBGE, LBGECharbroil Gas Grill, Weber Q2000, Old Weber Kettle, Rectec RT-B380, Yeti 65, Yeti Hopper 20, RTIC 20, RTIC 20 Soft Side - Too many drinkware vessels to mention.

Not quite in Austin, TX City Limits
Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

OVER 20 years ago I bought 3 piece set of Tongs / Fork / Spatula at the local big box store.  They were Expensive, but wood handle inserts and the rest stainless.  The Tongs are 18" in length and the Spatula and Fork are each 22".

When dealing with the HOTTEST of fires, the extra length comes in handy.

With proper care someone will Inherit these when I go room temp.

My favorite benefit of the pigtail flipper is the ease at which you can clean it with a Clorox wipe and then remove your cooked food without cross contamination. I use tongs sometimes too, but the pigtails are quite nice.
