Cast iron waffle iron on minimax

I've been looking at cast iron accessories for my minimax for when I go camping. I've always wanted an old Griswold #8 waffle iron that swivels on a base. As I'm looking at them today, I'm curious if it would work perfectly on a minimax?! I think the outer diameter of the base that the waffle iron is 11". It would be able to swivel. Has anyone tried this?

At one time in years past I collected Griswold and at the height of my collection I had right at 500 pieces! Have sold off almost all of it now. I had several of the waffle irons and used one on an electric oven burner with no problems. I think it would work but it might be hard to keep the temp where ya need it. You will need to make sure it's seasoned well or you will have problems with the waffle sticking.

@Jupiter Jim Thank you. At one point my collection was about 65 pieces. I don't feel nearly as compulsive nowJupiter Jim said:at the height of my collection I had right at 500 pieces

We had to sell because we downsized to a smaller home twice. I enjoyed it for many years. Now I collect BGE's and recipe's!blasting said:

There are high bases and low bases.
The high base Griswold fits perfect in a large. Low base would work fine too.
The problem with the low base is fitting it without an angle from the lower height base sticking out of the MM or small if that makes any sense. Unless you can run a hotter fire with the grid at the felt line.
Imho, stick with the large for the ci waffle iron duties. Love me some WI brownies.

In the links above JJ posted..
1st link, all 3 are high bases.
2nd link heart and star, low base.
A Weber Jumbo Joe or 22 inch kettle would work at the campground for this.
A low base would be ideal.BrandonQuad Cities
