Stuntman Eddie Braun is going to do the same jump Evel attempted in the 70's. Still have not heard what network will air it. Anyone know?

Thanks. I hope it is tomorrow because now we'll all have a reason to drink it up!=======================================

Yeah that was boring

Thanks nola. I had searched for it, but a few hours ago all the hits referred to it as upcoming, and none listed which network.

There was great interview in the Jim Rome show w Evel himself talking about that even. It was and still is one of the greatest interviews ever, and Evel had some great insight into the guy who botched the rocket buildyljkt said:I can remember watching that debacle in like 1973 I think. A link to Bob Truax obit that mentions working with Evel Knievel: FYI-

Lou, I couldn't open yours, but found this one:

One more failed Naval Academy Grad... Seriously, the first few sentences, and I'm even thinking, the dude just died, cut him some slack!

Somewhere in one of my parents photo albums, filled with pics with white borders on them, there is a pic of me and my brother with the sky cycle in Bob Truax's workshop when I was 6 or 7. He lived next door to some close family friends (also a naval academy grad) in Saratoga, CA and we got to see it. Could've been a prototype, I'm not really sure as it didn't have the skin on it, it was still being worked on. Evel Kneivel was all we needed to hear and it was the coolest thing ever to us.

A statement to the change in the main-stream media over the past 40+ years. For the Knievel attempt, it got some play on the big 3 networks and newspapers.
This one-hardly a blimp on anyone's radar. With so much out there on so many platforms the definition of news has certainly changed over time.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. It should have been big news because daredevil's lives matter.lousubcap said:A statement to the change in the main-stream media over the past 40+ years. For the Knievel attempt, it got some play on the big 3 networks and newspapers.

Knievel was PT Barnum first, daredevil second. I think this guy just has the daredevil gene.

So this guy spends $1.5M of his own $$$ on the effort. Sounds like he'd fit right in with this community.

Is he independently wealthy? I can't imagine a stuntman having a million plus laying around.

Don't really get the excitement over what is a fairly simple engineering/math/ballistics problem.
These days all sorts of folks are building rockets to go into space. Hell, a guy that runs a web storefront is building rockets. What's the big deal about using a rocket for getting from one side a big ditch to the other?
“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
I guess you're just hard to impress.

For me, and I suspect most people, this was a huge, exciting event and disappointment from our youth. What boy didn't think Evel was the coolest and built some plywood scrap and cinder block ramp for their bike? Measured against other extreme things today - not such a big deal, but this isn't really about today. I'll bet you already knew that though.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
Neither of the vehicles were motorcycles and did not land safely on two wheels. Those are rockets and they have nothing on NASA or even Space X. Big, Harry, McF!@#^ing deal though.
