Large egg butt question

I have a large and I am cooking two 8 lb butt this weekend on it. If I were to throw a 3rd one on there of them same size would it effect cooking times at all? I will be using a stoker so I know temp should be consistent. J the two are for a pool party but I would like the third so I have some left overs.   Thanks in advance.

  • Are you cooking 2 on one rack and then the third on the different rack or are you just throwing them all on there together (i.e. will there be spacing in between the layers)?  If there is ample airflow around each butt then there should be minimal effect in cooking time.  If air flow is restricted then it'd be as if you just had 1 giant butt on there and that will increase cook time.

As above, and if going with an elevated rack the one on top should (key word) cook quicker but each will finish at their own pace and could be a few hours apart.  Make sure you have a good sized air-gapped drip pan to catch all the renderings and enjoy the cook and eats.
