MiniMax in Large nest

i know this is an old topic but have a question for anyone that has put their MM in a large nest??? Any reason I have to take it out of its MM holder? (See photo) It seems to fit but has a little wobble if I move it back and forth. My thought is once I start it, it stays in place and the handles will make it easier to lift it out when I put it in the back of my car for road trips.

If it wobbles but can't fall out, I can't really see  what the problem would be.  In fact sounds like the way to go to me. I am thinking of purchasing a Mini Max to take on fishing trips but was concerned about what to set it on and how to lift it to comfortable cooking height. This may be the ticket.

Ha....if it works go with it. I will tell you it fits snug as a bug in a rug on a medium nest. Not optimum height, but fits perfectly.

with this configuration my felt line is 25" off the ground.  It seems like this will make it easy to move around and still easy to lift into the car

I think someone cut a large for it to fit better just not sure I want to do that

Seems like an earlier poster had their MM in a Medium Nest and it fit perfect.

I'm the one who cut a large best down to effectively a medium nest size. Search "Mini Max Nest" for pics. 

The problem with it wobbling around in a large nest is if it's not level, the lid can come slamming down. No Bueno.

I have mine in a large nest and did not like the wobble so I took a scrap piece of 3/4 plywood cut it to fit large nest and it's perfect.

to stop the wobble can't i just bend the 4 arms in to meet the sides of the MM. I also though about putting something under but worried about putting wood under the egg (fire potential)

If you make the plywood big enough you will have an air gap.

I guess the MM feet just sit right on the plywood?

Yes they do, this is a cutout I had from making a wood carrier for my small several years ago. If I was making it from new I would make it about an inch bigger in diameter and make 4 notches for the 4 vertical post. Oh and it's 1/2" plywood not 3/4".

You can also bend the upper "arms" on a large nest. Sancho65 has a Mini snuggly held in a large nest this way.

I measured the diameter of what I have and it's 15 3/4" but I think a 16 1/2" would be much better.

Thanks for all the help. Just finished it and went With 17" and bent the side supports in about 1" each. This is perfect, no wobble, solid surface. I use hockey pucks to add a little more air flow under the egg. With this setup I will screw the pucks to the wood.
done and ready for the next project.

Spent 4 hours yesterday looking for Hockey Pucks...Damn Yankees...lol
All I kept finding was Prime Grade Packer Briskets for $3 a pound...Ha Ha

My Choice Brisket is over $6 a pound at Costco and my Hockey pucks came from my woods behind the house - the kid behind me plays hockey. Guess he misses the net more than he thinks.

Had some extra wood so I made a shelf on the bottom to hold my CI pans and added some black paint

Totally stole your idea. Cut hole in my top and then trimmed the remainder for the nest. If I end up with enough leftovers I might come up with more add one. Dunno. Thanks for the idea though.
