Making progress on second table.

Going to start welding up the third one tomorrow so my wife can have the garage back, then I can get the rest of the aluminum work done and make the drawers.

Thx for the compliments. I really don't 'know' how to weld, I can grind off ugly with the best of them though. 

I don't notice much difference with the caps but I grill year round. Didn't want to take a chance with the snow we get here. Last year I was deep frying turkeys on T-day and it was snowing. No fun at all. This year I'm taking that out of the equation.

Based on a a few jobs I did making those style tables for our lab, you probably could lose the center wheels - they make it harder to move and weird on uneven ground.

Yes. 2X2 16g primarily. 1/8 and 1/16 mix on the diamond plate. Mostly 1/8. Third table will have shelf and doors but resemble that table otherwise. I left that one open for fridge or coolers. Still a work in progress. Hopefully mostly done this weekend. 
Tacked it up today. Made it a bit further then this pic. 
I leave the side cross braces off where the egg lives and bolt in 2" channel. That way it's easier to place egg on shelf. Bolt in supports and the rivet top down. Did the XL that way as well. Haven't needed any help putting eggs in. I just disassemble them. 

There are cross pieces where the egg lives going in to match where the feet of table nest going in.

Did it all in my head, pretty scary place so I can't let you in. I'll give you the summary though. 

I has metal supermarkets precut the tubing for me. Costs a little extra but way better then trying to do it with a chop saw. When you order it get it all done at once. They have an automated cutter, so if it's off a bit they are at least consistant. 

I used the BGE overall dimensions for the L with hopes of finding a cover. 

The table is made in two basic sections. The part the egg lives in and the other side. I build the cube first then add the other side pieces, constantly checking square. 

Six legs 28" (mine are 27-5/16, don't ask why, dunno where I came up with that, cost me time and effort for no reason. 
On long side four more 28" pieces. Six if you want shelf. 
Two or four 23" pieces for depth. 
Egg side uses 12 23" pieces. Four for bottom, six for egg level, two for top. 
3-4 23" C channel for the depth pieces at top. I make these removable to get egg in and out easier. 

Weld the cube. 
Two legs 23" piece at top, 15" from top and 1-3/4 from bottom. Do two of these. Join them together at the 15 and 1-3/4 level making the cube. (Piece on ground in above pic) 
Add 2 23" pieces in middle of 15" level where the feet of the table nest rest. I just centered table nest, measured, and welded them in. 
Last two legs for long side. Add a 28" piece to top and 1-3/4" to each separately. Add 23" piece between the two at 1-3/4 level. Match that up to cube. The top should be solid across front/back and open from side to side. 
I weld 3/4 angle to channel, match it up to ends and drill holes, then bolt them in. 
Add any cross pieces you want for shelves in big side. I actually welded a piece of tubing on this one on the long side, just not on egg side (see pic above). 
This gives you a 27X57 table. Have diamond plate cut to 28X58. Shelf for egg 27X27. You'll have to cut 22" hole in top and 2X2 notches for shelf. 
Rest is up to your imagination.
