Gasket Idea

Instead of a thin gasket on both sides, would it not be better to have a thick gasket that would only need to be on one side? Half of the hassle with the same results. If I am missing something please clue me in.

What issues are you having and what gasket are you currently using?

I replaced the original with a nomex. No issues at present. In another thread someone asked about the difficulty level of changing gaskets. That got me to thinking why doesn't BGE make a thicker gasket and we would only have to deal with half of the hassle.

I think you will find that most of us who use a Rutland only put it on one side.

^^^^^^. Someone on this forum many years ago figured this out. Since then he has supplied the egging community with miles of this stuff. Some people order gasket from him at the same time they buy a new egg and change it out immediately. Ask @rrp . I don't think they know how long it will last as it hasn't failed yet.
