The type of lump also makes a difference. I recently switched because my dealer was out of my old stuff, and I'm having trouble controlling the fire. I use a MAPP torch or oiled paper towels. I have to close the dome right after I light now, and check back in 5 minutes.

    Welcome.

Chimney works great for me, once it's going I usually set the chimney in the egg on top of the charcoal and it helps get that going before I even dump it while also getting all the coals in the starter good and hot.
