Another fabulous product from Thermoworks! Anyone who deep fries or makes candy should look into the Chef Alarm for $52. The probe fits on the rim of any pan, even those with a thick lip. An alarm rings when you get up to temp, meaning you don't have to check constantly. It also has a timer. I know we don't necessarily need more fried food in our lives, but even an occasional indulgence makes this worthwhile. 

To test it out, check out Serious Eats chicken-fried chicken recipe as the base for a fried chicken sandwich (skip the gravy and the pounding). The best I've ever had.
