How to unsubscribe from a thread

So I have searched, and it appears that in a previous format of the forum, there was a way to unsubscribe from a thread.  Unfortunately, it seems to be that that feature has disappeared.  And the only way you can now unsubscribe from a thread, is to basically turn off all notifications.  So what happens when you want to know what is happening or going on in some threads, but not another?  Am I missing something, somewhere?

If the mods have the ability, can they unsubscribe me from "Where is everyone?" thread.  Not that I don't want to know if there are people nearby, I have seen a major uptick in people posting where they are from, and my inbox has been blowing up.  It just a little distracting, as every single post that occurs, results in a new email.  Other forums that I am on will send a message to let me know there has been a new response, but it will not send me another email until I actually visit the thread.  Makes things much more manageable during the day, and I can catch up on the thread once I have the time to visit it.

Hopefully this will be an easy fix.

If you go to edit profile-->notification preferences.  2 of the included options are:

Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions.

Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in.

One option is you could just uncheck "email" for both of these.  If you want to get emails for certain threads you can book mark them by clicking the little star in the top right of the discussion (note this is in a desktop browser). You could only bookmark the discussions you want to receive notifications for.  I don't think there is any reason to bookmark "what are you doing right now..." because it will be back to the front page sooner or later.

Personally I turn off all email notifications except for private messages.  I just use the notifications feature of the site when I log back in.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Man I have to agree on this particular thread. Getting so many notifications, it's annoying. I do like to know if a thread I am interested in has activity but this one is crazy.
