Hinges won't keep BGE propped open.

My BGE went many years without use ( I know - Shame on me). Now the spring will not keep the BGE propped open. I use the ash rake and prop it open against the side table. It works fine, but didn't know if anyone else has this issue. Don't say to replace the springs, because I am not that mechanically inclined.

Tighten up the bolts a little bit on the hinges, just a little.Jacksonville FL

first thing to check is the spring bolt on the bottom of the spring, if it tilts in thats the problem, retighten it so its perpendicular. if its been sitting for that long the egg maybe tilted slightly forward, it does not take much, level it off. if its the springs they come off very simply, hold dome completely open to relieve stress on the spring and pry them off with a screwdriver, wear safety glasses
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
