Looking for Kamado Joe Classic Heat Deflector
Smokin_Sandy
Posts: 3
I am looking for a Kamado Joe heat deflector for their classic (18")
model. If it helps, it is part number KJ-IHP23 and is the one featured
in this article.
They seem impossible to purchase through online stores, so I am hoping
someone has one they would be willing to part with. Thanks!

The heat deflector they ship the KJs with now is two half moons to allow for different configurations while cooking.

Yeah I think they replaced that deflector with the divide and conquer system. If you don't already have the D&C rack you have to buy it separately.

It is a little pricey compared to the old heat deflector if you just want a simple rack/stone setup. You could always get the rack only then look for a cheaper pizza stone that will fit if you don't care about the 1/2 moon stones.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
the KJ pizza stone is the exact same material and size as that heat deflector.

Thank you all for the help. As it turns out, I borrowed the divide and conquer system for a bit, but wasn't that impressed. I mostly do low and slow, so I found it to offer more than I need. At the least I am looking for the old-style, triangle-shaped rack. Even if I can just get my hands on one of those I am sure I can find a stone to fit.

Give Tom a call at Ceramic Grill Store. He has sold KJ and may still have one in stock or he could make you exactly what you need.

I don't know the first thing about KJ stuff, but it looks like you could do this with a Weber 18" grid, three carriage bolts, some nuts and washers
followed by a BGE or other quality pizza stone.
You get indirect or raised direct as needed. Unless I'm missing what you're trying to do?I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

That is a superior design to BGE. I have a lot of friends that love them.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC

While you could get the functionality the op is looking for, Weber grids will rust and bend. Ask me how I know... -
Thank you all yet again for the help. I might have found a guy that has a used rack.

I really like the D&C system. It's great for cooking indirect and then direct without having to remove the grill and pizza stone. I also bought a half moon for medium egg.Weber Kettle, Weber Genesis Silver B, Medium Egg, KJ Classic (Black)
