Hoodoo Brown BBQ

Was in the area and had to check out what all the hype was about, pictures will do more justice than any words I can type, but this meal was delicious, my only regret was being too full for desert but these boys at Hoodoo do it right !

I have heard good things about this place. Especially about their brisket and surprisingly the chicken. I had planned to go feast there three weeks ago but I backed out due to fighting gout symptoms. I need to get there and check it out.

@ctopgun sorry to hear about the battles of gout, a co-worker of mine is going thru that and I wish you the best.  I thought their food was fantastic good-ol Texas BBQ.  I think it so far is the best in the area for sure (which is not saying much for CT) but I really enjoyed the Brisket and the spareribs.  Hope you're able to get up there sometime soon to enjoy!

  •  Finaly got to Hoodoo Brown's yesterday. I had been waiting a long tome to go try this out. Unfortunately they had run out of brisket and it would be a couple hours until the next came off the smokers. My buddy and I made due with a platter intended for 4-6 (that is what it said on the menu). Big slab of cornbread, a full(HUGE) rack of spares, two nice sized links of sausage, and a whole chicken(this was a substitute for the pound of brisket it normally includes) . We ate our fill. The chicken was great. The ribs were good. They did not require sauce, but I did try their house BBQ and their Carolina style. House sauce was fruity and semi-sweet. I was not a fan. Carolina was decent. But neither sauce really suited my taste. I really enjoyed the cornbread and the chedder/jalapeno sausage was pleasantly spiced and the casing nice and snappy. I liked that!

All in all i enjoyed the meal. Took a little home for a snack later today. I will go back to try the brisket. How can I judge a Texas BBQ until I sample that???

Unfortunately that's in the opposit corner of the state from me. For those of you down this way, Dog Watch Cafe in Stonington Borough has opened Dog Watch BBQ. S'posed to be very good but I haven't made it there yet.
