Pork Butt Travel Time

i am headed to the keys this Friday and was thinking about doing a 12lb butt Thursday afternoon to be ready for a FTC at around 10am Friday morning for the 2hr drive.

Question is do you think k if well wrapped and towleed it will stay hot enough till say 5-6pm eating time on Friday. Our hotel has no ovens to reheat

A cheap foam ice chest ... FTC'd - 4hrs easily. A good igloo or anything upper tier 5 or 6 pm is absolutely obtainable.

In a cooler FTC'd you should be good for 6 hrs (or maybe more). The less air space=longer hold time.

Stuff the cooler with wadded up newspaper. Less air = warmer.

Should be attainable. I have FTC's brisket, pork but and ribs for 6 hours and still be hot to serve.  I found filling the cooler half about half full with hot water and letting it sit for about 20 minutes help as does putting the towels in the dryer on high right before you use them.  I use Igloo coolers.

I had a 3 hour drive last Friday doing the same thing.  I preheated it in the sun, then added 3 fire bricks at about 185F in the bottom of the cooler, wrapped in an old towel.  I also took some hot sides, so there was a lot of thermal mass and the butt was as juicy and hot as it could've ever been!
